The Many Causes of a Forklift Accident

According to the National Forklift Exchange, there are approximately 1.5 million forklift truck operators in the United States. Unfortunately, there are times when drivers are involved in an accident. While not always the case, this can cause serious injury or even death.

Forklift drivers, as well as those working in close proximity, must understand the dangers associated with this type of equipment. Some of the most common causes of forklift accidents include:

  • Inexperienced driver
  • Horseplay
  • Tipping
  • Speeding or reckless driving
  • Operating with an elevated load
  • Improper turning
  • Insufficient markings
  • Transporting other people on the forklift

This type of construction site accident can be avoided in most cases. Even so, many people are injured in forklift accidents every year. If this has happened to you, contact us for a consultation. We can help you understand your legal rights.
