For many people in the Boston area, taking the trolley to and from work is a way of life. Unfortunately, a recent Green Line derailment led to injuries sustained by 10 people. According to the MBTA, this accident was a result of human error.
In a statement, the MBTA added the following:
“The motorperson failed to operate his trolley in compliance with speed and signal requirements. The MBTA’s investigation had previously ruled out any problems with the trolley, tracks, switch or signals.”
After initially being placed on paid leave, it has been reported that the trolley driver was fired following the accident.
Although none of the injuries were serious, 10 people were injured, two of which were MBTA employees.
