Three Basic Questions to Ask During your Initial Consultation

Before you hire a personal injury lawyer, you must meet with him or her to discuss your situation and determine if you actually have a case.

Since most attorneys offer a free initial consultation, you don’t have anything to worry about during this meeting. Instead, you are simply getting together to determine if there is a match, and if so, how to best move forward.

Just as the attorney is attempting to decide if taking on your case is a good idea, you should be doing some judging of your own. In short, you need to determine if you have selected the right attorney.

Here are three questions you can ask to clear the air and ensure you are making a good decision:

  • How much experience do you have with similar personal injury cases?
  • What is your fee? (you should never pay unless your case is won)
  • Do you have the time to work my case?

By asking these types of questions, you will learn more about the attorney while also showing them that you mean business.

Your consultation is a time to discuss your case and make a decision on what to do next. Don’t be shy about asking questions along the way.
