Sometimes, Man’s Best Friend is Dangerous

For many years, people all over the United States have enjoyed the companionship of dogs. While dogs are often times known as “man’s best friend,” things can go wrong from time to time.

Simply put, when dogs attack people usually get hurt.

In the state of Massachusetts, there are strict liability laws against dog owners for any harm caused by the animal.

For more information on whether or not you have a case, you need to visit our dog bite and injury page.

To file a lawsuit, you need a certain amount of proof as outlined by Massachusetts General Laws. Here are the four things you must prove:

  • That the defendant is, in fact, the owner or handler of the dog
  • That the person who was injured by the dog was not trespassing or in the process of committing a crime
  • That the injury victim was not teasing or tormenting the dog
  • And that the victim was, in fact, injured by the dog.

If a dog has injured you, you should immediately seek medical attention.

While most dogs are friendly and more than happy to get along with humans, this is not always the case. Sometimes, man’s best friend can be extremely dangerous.
