Personal Injury Car Accident Checklist

A car accident can lead to a whirlwind of emotions, as well as a lot of confusion. If you want to receive the proper compensation for damage caused by the accident, it is important that you collect the proper facts and information.

Below is a checklist of information that you need to secure following a car accident. This is what you will give your insurance company and/or attorney so that they can move forward at the appropriate time.

Related to the accident, you should obtain the following: information from the other parties involved, police report, photographs of the damage, and contact information for all witnesses.

After the accident you need to hang onto information concerning: medical records and expenses, repair estimates, time off from work, and other out of pocket expenses related to the accident.

Above all else, it is important to receive the proper medical attention. While you may want to go through your checklist, it is of utmost importance that you first care for yourself.

Shortly after your accident you may be contacted by the insurance company and/or attorney for the other parties involved. You should never answer any questions until you speak with your own insurer and attorney.

If you believe that you have a personal injury case, follow the checklist above and then hire an attorney. This will increase your chance of receiving compensation.
