The plaintiff was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which he sustained several injuries. In this case the plaintiff was an occupant in a car which was allegedly exceeding the speed limit. When the car was not able to make a sharp curve due to excessive speed, it was forced to go onto the sidewalk. This led to a head on impact with a telephone pole.
Injuries to the plaintiff were multiple and severe in this case. He suffered a dislocated hip, torn rotator cuff, back injuries with nerve damage, and a left elbow fracture. This led to the plaintiff undergoing treatment that lasted nearly two years. Fortunately, the plaintiff was not left with any long term injuries.
At the time of the incident the plaintiff was a college student. During the summer he was working as a roofer, which made it difficult for him to track lost earnings.
Following a discovery stage a settlement of $100,000 was agreed upon with the third party. The plaintiff's counsel did not stop there and eventually recovered an additional $150,000 in an underinsured motorist claim. A large portion of the $250,000 was annuitized to protect the plaintiff.
